  1. 1. Meter Suggestions

When building Arial Homes in large communities, it is usually cheaper for the community to have one single gas, water, and electric bill.  The community's association then bills the homes for their usage.

The guidelines for this project:

  • Inexpensive gas, water, and electric meters that can report usage back to a central server over an IP network.  The first Arial Home community will have over 200 homes, so keep in mind that the devices must play nicely with each other when scaled up to this number.
  • Receiving the data reliably on the central server.  If you are interested in further organizing the data on the central server once it is received, then you may want to look at our Reporting challenge.

If interested in this project, fill out the Entry Form attached to the College Challenge page.  If you get accepted, create a new sub-page here with your Team's Name, to use for all updates and file uploads.  We will purchase equipment for your testing if deemed necessary.  To request money to purchase equipment, fill out the Project Funding Form attached to the College Challenge page.

Meter Suggestions

You are always free to suggest different meters, but these are the best we've found so far.
